gmc
Task

Run

Run a command in a task worktree.

gmc task run runs a command in the task worktree and records it in the ledger.

Usage

gmc task run <task-id> -- go test ./...
gmc task run <task-id> -- make check

What is recorded

Each run stores its command, working directory, start and end times, status, and — on failure — its exit code. Output streams are kept as logs under the task's logs/ directory. In text mode the log path is printed on stderr; in -o json mode the run record's stdout/stderr fields carry the paths.

-o json prints the run record on stdout while the command's own output goes to stderr, so the JSON stays parseable.

Exit codes

gmc task run exits with the command's exit code, or 128 + signal when the command is killed by a signal. A command that cannot be started exits 1 with the run recorded as failed and no exit code.

Notes

Ledger write failures are reported as warnings instead of losing the run result. Use gmc task show <task-id> to list recorded runs. If gmc itself is killed mid-run, the record stays running until gmc task refresh marks it lost.
